Cosplay,
short for "Costume Play". Dressing up as a specific character.
I have been cosplaying since 2003. It seems cosplay is growing in popularity, considering just a few years ago Model Mayhem and other modeling sites did not even recognize cosplay as a modeling genre. Now there's other awesome cosplay ladies such as YaYa Han and Ginny Mcqueen. More power to them! As my friend Jerry Says, "The Geek Shall inherit the earth". Here's hoping he's right.
This part of my page is dedicated to the many costumes I've made, and costumes I'm working on. For any questions or comments, just Email me. TheRealJanetJay@yahoo.com Autographed Cosplay photos are available per request. You know my Email.
The Succubus from Castlevania Symphony Of The Night
"c'mere little boy, let me show you what I've got!"
Richter Belmont with The Evil Succubus |
This costume required very little sewing. It was a matter of "How am I going to look topless like in the videogame without getting arrested?" Thank you American Apparel for making flesh colored bodysuits! Sorry to ruin it for ya' guys, but yes, I had on a full flesh colored bodysuit so no "Wardrobe malfunctions" would happen. Now the coat that Richter is wearing, I made most of that myself and he sewed on the buttons and decals. |
Stella Star
Made
this costume in 2011. Stella from the 70's sci-fi movie Starcrash. This was
fairly easy to put together. Used my Succubus boots, bought the bikini and belt
online, used a brown wig.Below is one of Stella's alternate costumes. It's not quite
exact, but the silver material was hard to work with and I made that top with no
pattern at all. The spandex was purchased online, along with the gloves.
Signed photos of me as Stella are available for a small fee. Email TheRealJanetJay@yahoo.com for details.
Miss Mario
Miss Mario is my signature costume. I've worn it the most, and it's one of my favorites.I believe this was first made around 2006 and has been modified a few times.I bought overalls at a thrift shop and turned them into a skirt. bought a red T-shirt and I even made a Mario hat, but later on Nintendo sent me a hat through their rewards site. Sometimes I wear red high heels with it, or green Doc Marten style boots, which are lovingly referred to as my "Goomba's Shoes". I met Peelander-Z at a convention in 2006 and Peelander Yellow hugged me and called me "Mario-Chan". They didn't know much English and I didn't know much Japanese (even though I took 2 semesters of it), but we somehow understood each other just fine.
My sister- in- law has a "Miss Luigi" costume, but we have different schedules and end up wearing the costumes at different places and times.
Meryl from Metal Gear

This is another oldie but goodie, and unfortunately, the only photo I have of that particular Meryl costume. This was 2005-2006-ish. Met up with some dudes dressed as Snake and it was really fun. Even attended a Metal Gear panel. Though I must say I have not played any of the newer MGS games, just sort of lost interest for now, but may go back to it.

Soma Cruz From The Castlevania Game Series.
This is my second "Cross-Play" costume that I started in 2009. My first was Mario. Soma is sort of feminine looking anyways. I found the white coat at a thrift shop and automatically thought, "That's Soma's coat!". More Photos in the future. The costume is about 90 percent complete and that white wig has been reused many times for other photos. Besides Super Mario, Castlevania is another favorite that's dear to my heart. Except for the Xbox 360 versions, those horrible excuses for games made my heart break. My faves are SOTN and all the portable Castlevania's for GBA and Nintendo DS.
Sadly, I've never worn this costume to a convention yet, with the coat and everything I think I would get too sweaty and gross, but maybe it can be worn to a winter time event?
Special Thanks to Tom Cat Media of Wooster for taking some of these photos.

Pika-Girl/Pika "Chick"
This was made in 2010 for a local convention called Kitsunecon. I made a yellow Pika-hat too.
I have a yellow dress ,yellow high heels, and even yellow gloves. It's sort of my "Cop out" last minute cosplays because there are a million and one Pikachu's online.

Anime Bunny Girl is from 2004. We went to Colossal Con and it was one of those "Crap I'm broke and in college, what do I dress up as?" moments. I found a velvet dress at a thrift shop and made the apron. Found the ears and wig at a party/Halloween store. So yeah it was generic, but it worked. Some people asked what show I was from, so it must've been okay.
| Catwoman 2007 was worn to Ohayocon. This cosplay got lots of attention. It was time consuming but well worth it. Spandex is actually quite comfortable and breathable. Even though many people stared, I had a leather whip so no one bothered me. | ![]() |

| Halloween Costumes and
makeup I've done.
My very favorite holiday is Halloween. Nothing else compares. So I've decided to gather up photos and info on costumes and makeup. I claim by no means to be super professional, but many of them have turned out great, and it won't cost you a fortune.

| 2010, for Halloween night decided to go as a ghoul to freak out trick-or-treaters. Used really pale foundation and silver/white eye shadow for the whole base. Then for the eyes, lips, and nostrils used dark eye shadow and some liner. I never use white grease paint because it's too stark white, like clown makeup, just looks too goofy and fake. | |
